“Then out of them shall proceed thanksgiving and the voice of them that make merry…” – Jeremiah 30:19
Thanksgiving is a proof that you are grateful for God’s salvation, visitation, provision, and intervention in your affairs. When God is on your side, the devil cannot decide on the direction and bearing of your life. This understanding would have made the Psalmist to raise his voice and say, “If the Lord had not been on our side, the enemies would have swallowed us up…” Ps.124.
You cannot be ranked for divine entitlement if you are not a thankful child of God. If your voice is only recognised for complaint in the sight of God and man, you will be short-changing yourself of the manifold blessings of God. Because God doesn’t dwell in the complaints of the ingrate but rather dwells in the praises of thanksgivers.
When you raise the voice of thanksgiving to God:
(1) You become a vessel unto honour. The initial and primary preoccupation of the devil wasn’t to kill, steal or destroy but to make melodious sound to the Lord. When he lost his enviable position, God began a search for true worshippers. If you are thankful in every circumstance, you are qualified to be enrolled as a true worshipper of His Majesty.
(2) God will take vengeance on your behalf against enemies that want to void the plan of God for your life. Ask King Jehoshaphat and the children of Judah. They praised God and their adversaries were destroyed by God’s fury.
(3) God will raise you from the valley to the mountain top. Perhaps, the reason why you are still in the valley is because you have not appreciated God for small mercies, let alone His manifold grace in your life. When you praise Him, His Hands will give you a raise to your desired destination.
Today, raise your voice to God and cause His mightiness, awesomeness, magnificence and majesty to be proclaimed out of your mouth and from the depth of your heart. I pray your heart finds reasons to praise God every time you appear before His presence in Jesus name.
