THE GOAL OF REDEMPTION

John 10:10

"The thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly."

The Lord God does not make a move without a clear motive. His actions and reactions are expressions of His purpose and goals. When God said, "Let there be light", He knew darkness will undermine the beauty of His works if there is no greater force as the light. The supremacy of the light extinguishes the presence of darkness whenever the light shines. When humanity bit on the devil's deceptive scheme, man fell prey to the slavery and servitude of the devil. The devil's mastery of humanity lingered until the manifestation of the Redeemer. It is interesting to note that the goal of Jesus, the Redeemer, transcends human understanding.

From a biblical perspective, redemption means release from slavery. It involves buying back and setting free by paying a ransom price. Jesus paid the costly ransom for sin by laying down His life, as the perfect sacrifice for sins . As part of the comprehensive package of redemption, one of His goals was to SITUATE US IN THE MIDDLE OF GOD'S PLAN FOR OUR LIVES. Hence, living apart from God would make you highly vulnerable and manipulable by the devil. Things fall apart for the ungodly because they do not have God at the centre of their lives. After playing wavoc with the lives of his victims, the devil's plan is to leave you in limbo, without the strength to even pick up the pieces. But with Jesus, your case is not beyond His redemption plan. If you have lost everything, Jesus can situate you into His plan and give you the strength and courage to live again and recover everything.

Beyond embedding us in His plan for our lives, the redemption goal was also to SUPPLY US WITH THE POWER TO LIVE BEYOND THE NATURAL AND SERVE GOD WITH GRACE FOR EXPLOITS. This explains why Christianity is not a dumping ground for loafers and idlers, who choose to lay back after receiving the gift of salvation. God is not a companion of the lukewarm but of faithful stewards, who exhibit the drive and passion to do exploits for Him. So, today, get off the sidelines and swing into action. Get yours hands to the plough as you serve the Lord with gladness.

Ultimately, the goal of redemption is to enable us SHARE GOD'S CHARACTER AND TO FELLOWSHIP WITH HIM IN ETERNITY. God is not up to for a relationship that would make a spectacle of His name. Christians who dash in and out of God's circumference for their lives while mingling worldliness with godliness are unprepared for the bliss of heaven. Keeping God off the radar and running to Him only when you have a need is indicative of a drifted life. Today, stop short of everything associated with ungodliness and pursue God with a heart filled with the fire and hunger to do His will. Are you off course or yet to be encircled into God's kingdom? Don't be an onlooker, rather be a part of God's Kingdom today. What you stand to lose on the journey with Jesus is the enticing but poisonous offers of the devil, which are capable of draining your life, if you fail to hit the reject button. I pray, as you get on the journey with God, may you abundantly live off His grace to serve Him, prevail over situations and prepare yourself for your heavenly citizenship in Jesus name.
