Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glory your Father in heaven – Matt. 5:16
A Christ-like life is not synonymous with darkness, backwardness and confusion. Living a life of darkness is not consistent with a typical lifestyle of a believer who has been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb. The Bible does not endorse fellowship with darkness with the intent to allow for temporal or permanent enjoyment of the pleasure of sin. It rather advocates for faithful fellowship with God and pilgrimage in the light of God’s word.
Darkness keeps a man at the backstage of life. Therefore, his emergence and ability to come to the fore is frustrated. Darkness also has the capacity to keep its victims far off in the wilderness, to seclude them from fulfilling the purpose of God. When a man is engrossed with darkness, he will be made to wander in the wilderness of confusion and frustration. This speaks to the need to be translated from the life of darkness into God’s marvellous light.
Once you have been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb, God expects you to shine the light. There is no biblical argument that justifies the choice to hide your light under a bushel. If you keep hiding your light under a bushel, the world will keep waiting for your manifestation till kingdom come. So, arise and begin to shine the light of God through good works, faithful service to God and global illumination of the world with the glorious light of the Gospel of Christ. May you not live in obscurity and partner with darkness when God expects you to shine and display His glory, in Jesus name.
