There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death. - Proverbs 14:12
There's nothing glorious about Saul's mission to place a heavy yoke on the Early Church when he hit the road to Damascus. Because the Lord God wasn't behind his mission, He upset his plan and turned the tables on him. He lost his sight on the journey. However, his encounter with Christ on the way to Damascus marked the threshold of his journey towards living up to God's expectations for his life. Hence, if you keep going off the deep end while downplaying the message of the new life in Christ, you are unfortunately leaving yourself wide open for the devil to feed his ego and reduce you to zero, as you journey down the road.
Those whose ways are pleasing to God understand that a double standard life is a deal breaker, if they really want to remain in God's good graces. This explains why they keep to the straight and narrow and can't be coaxed into pursuing the things of the world, even when such things are creeping into the church. As true pilgrims that are sold out to God, they sustain their walk with God in absolute submission to His will. Hence, if you are on the other side of the way to glory, know that you are doing yourself a disservice regardless of the tips, ephemeral gifts and lifting you might have received through deceptive and ungodly schemes.
If you would switch from the camp of the devil to God's kingdom, your life would be illuminated with the light of God. Though the devil would want to talk you out of leaving his camp, keep you trapped in bondage and obstruct your visibility into the glorious pathway leading up to everlasting life, you need to hang tough in your resolve to hang up on him. Bear in mind that those we aren't walking with the Lord on the way to glory would flock with multitude into eternal sorrow. May your ways be aligned with God's ways and never to fall by the way side in Jesus name.
