"The people said to Joshua, “We will serve Yahweh our God, and we will listen to his voice.” - Joshua 24:24
Allegiance to Jesus is not synonymous with arrogance. Just as disobedience and God's blessings don't line up, so also is allegiance and acts of defiance of God's mandate. Sadly, a large number of people are living a life that falls short of God's expectation for their lives because they are allow the fabric of obsession with worldliness to run through their veins. The divine recipe for this anomaly is to take a leap of faith and switch camp from darkness to light. Darkness does not leave a man without prejudice to his relationship, well being and stability. No man enjoys a clear sailing while walking in the dark except the Lord is the Light of his life. Hence, if you are going off course or perhaps you are yet to align with God, it's time to pledge allegiance to Jesus and give Him the free rein to steer the affairs of your life for positive impact.
Allegiance is the hallmark of a true disciple of Christ and characterizes the resolve to join oneself to Jesus. Nothing keeps a man closer to God's heart than his resolve to forge an intimate bond with God. Gladly, a man who keeps God on the radar enjoys immense DISTANCE from the evil that befalls the sons of men. Though the righteous might come close to the door of evil, yet the Lord delivers him while he merely beholds the evil that plunges unsecured lives into sorrow. You stand to live off the promise of divine security as you pledge allegiance to Jesus. Who is he that can keep his life from danger without giving his eyes to sleep? It's God alone who is capable of refraining from sleeping to keep watch over His own.
It's worthy of note that allegiance to God endorses the righteous with the right to launch out with RESISTANCE against opposition. Resisting the devil is not characteristic of lukewarm Christians who juggle worldliness and spirituality. You can only resist the devil and shut him up if you are living off the strength and power of the Holy Ghost. By virtue of your allegiance to God, you cannot but win through and knock down every opposition that might be blocking your way.
Joshua and Caleb were two believers who were upbeat about taking possession of the Land of Promise in spite of oppositions. God attested to their allegiance and gesture of faith because they magnified Him beyond their challenges. While most of the Israelites couldn't enter into the Land of Promise, Joshua and Caleb gained entrance into it and partook of the ABUNDANCE of God's blessings. The Lord God had to break silence on their allegiance and expression of faith in Him. This in turn brought them into overflowing abundance. Have you pledged allegiance to Jesus without stopping short of your commitment to do His will? If not, take a bold step and a leap faith to throw every distraction and all forms of worldliness overboard, as you get on board with Jesus today.
