Your words were found, and I ate them; and Your words were to me a joy and the rejoicing of my heart... - Jeremiah 15:16
One of the secrets of becoming the picture of spiritual healthiness is developing a craving for the word of God. For a child of God to be healthy in body, soul and spirit, his or her hunger for the word of God must be attested to by heaven. If you don’t feast on the word of God, you may be sighted as a free lunch in the eyes of the devil. The devil knows those that are spiritually healthy among the children of God. He knows those that are lean in the spirit. Christians that fall prey of the devil’s schemes are usually those who lack appetite for the word of God. They can easily be swayed by the gimmicks and tricks of the devil.
Until you develop an unquenchable thirst for the word of God, the devil will effortlessly reduce you to silence if you cannot challenge him on what is written in the word of God. It's just a piece of cake for the devil to put off the little light of a Christian who chooses not to grow in the light of God's word. If you are pegged down by the devil as a Christian whose growth is retarded, then the devil will not have to struggle to get you disconnected from the divine root in which your salvation is built. I pray this won't be your portion in Jesus name. Therefore, you need to keep your appetite for the word of God unabated. Your hunger for the things of God should not switch over to the pursuit of inordinate affection to gratify your flesh.
Hence, it is highly essential to feast on the word of God. As long as you desire to build a fortified spiritual foundation, you cannot do it without a sound grasp of the word of God. Feasting on the word of God does not only guarantee your spiritual freshness and healthiness, it also strengthens your fellowship and intimacy with God. For you to see your future through the lens of the Spirit, your eyes of understanding must be enlightened through the knowledge and revelation of the word of God. See to it that you get edified and nourished in the word of God. It is the Word that gives life and also the reason and hope to live joyfully in the face of opposition and affliction. May your hunger for the word of God never die a natural death in the face of distractions here and there in Jesus name.
