"Therefore let’s also, seeing we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let’s run with perseverance the race that is set before us,"
It is often said that quitters never win and winners never quit. It is a maxim that inspires the zeal and resilience to keep firing on all cylinders and not to drop the ball. There is actually no silver lining when an individual chickens out on a worthy goal after getting off to a good start. However, there is a heap of joy that comes with being reputed as a good finisher. Getting off the starting block without making inroads to finish up on goals or projects sends dryness and unpleasantness into the soul. You can only regale your heart with joy if you invest your time to finish up. Hence, quitting too soon is a choice to miss the boat to stardom. No one is acclaimed a star if he or she strays away from the goal to realise his dreams. Basking in stardom is achievable when you get on your stride for a ride to your desired destination.
Dr. Thomas Constable wrote, "The lazy man does not finish his projects; he does not roast and eat the game he has hunted. He throws away his chances for something better by quitting too soon. However, the person who has mastered diligence and finishes his task has a precious tool at his disposal, namely: perseverance." This reveals that quitters tend to underestimate their capability to realise their dreams. Refusing to pull out all the stops in the face of emotionally draining hurdles would most likely make you to lose out on the big dividends that accrues to the diligent. You cannot afford to allow laziness to drive you to hit the brakes and call it quits. It is important to note that life will often present you with hurdles and obstacles. However, you can use them as stepping stones to success. If you don't anticipate hurdles and prepare way ahead of them, it's most likely for you to miss out on the big dividends that comes with working up a storm until the storm is over.
It is important to note that quitting at certain point in time requires courage. This happens especially when it does not add up to keep straining away at a goal when it is advisable to train your sights on new and purposeful goals. However, quitting too soon would mean that you decided to treat discouragement and failure as welcome guests. An individual who keeps rushing to conclusions that his efforts don't worth the while, after kick starting a project, will certainly opt to quit. He will keep jumping from one goal to another without gaining the mastery of diligence that is required to stay put and get the desired mileage from his pursuit. The recipe for overcoming the urge to quit is to put up a brave front, become optimistic and forward looking without allowing discouragement to get in the way. Above all, look up to God to keep you from falling and dropping by the wayside. May you not chicken out of the programme of God for your life and from the pursuit of every of your purposeful aspirations in Jesus name
