Revelation 4:1
"After these things I looked and saw a door opened in heaven, and the first voice that I heard, like a trumpet speaking with me, was one saying, “Come up here, and I will show you the things which must happen after this.”

It is customary for God to lead us forward and upward. Even if it appears that the way forward runs through a wilderness situation, it is often geared to prepare us for the next level. In leading you forward, God intends to shape and better your knowledge of Him through an intimate relationship. Hence, as you walk with Him, you just have to allow unproductive habits and works of the flesh to drop by the wayside, because they are capable of causing a crack in your relationship with God. However, when God says come up higher, it could be a call to a deeper relationship with Him. Understand that deepening your relationship with God is a sure way to enrich your spiritual profile with God. Enhancing your spiritual profile will of course heat up God's fire in your life, to better light up your world and extinguish the fiery force of darkness. If the force of darkness would take a nosedive, you must heed the call to come up higher for an empowerment to pull down the devil's kingdom.

A call to come up higher is also a call to a deeper devotion to the things of God. Having committed to deepen your relationship with God, you should also be positioned to do exploits for Him. More often than not, as Christians, we allow our commitment to God's kingdom to fall by the wayside. Most Christians are spiritually impaired by much distractions because they find other life pursuits much more attractive than God's kingdom. If a Christian wrestles with the decision to either attend a worship service or watch a football match, where both events were lined up to happen at the same time, it depicts an erosion of devotion and loyalty to God. It is also worthy of note that if your devotion to God's work is taking an upturn, God wants you to keep on keeping on and not to relent. Once you sign up to go the limit for God, He would certainly be pleased to multiply His grace for exploits in your life. Today, God is saying come up higher, because He knows that you are capable of doing more for Him with the abundant grace He provides at every turn.

It is also important to note that a closer walk with God results in a deeper access to the secrets of God. This implies that when God says come up higher, it could mean come and access the deeper revelations of the secrets of God. There are heaps of insights which you can discern about God if you would maintain a closer walk with Him. Most of the revelations and insights which the Lord would be willing to share with you are on tap only if you would hunger and thirst after righteousness. So to come up higher will of course take you from the class of the average, into the class of the peculiar who enjoy classified divine information. When are divinely informed, you cannot live an unpurposeful and mistaken life. You can laugh the devil to scorn if he attempts to mislead you, because you are well armed with the knowledge and revelation of God's word. Today, treasure a closer walk with God and you would not be deficient of the divine insight to advance above powers and every sticky situation, which the devil may lay on your way.
