Genesis 12:1
"Now Yahweh said to Abram, “Leave your country, and your relatives, and your father’s house, and go to the land that I will show you."

Following God's revelation to Abraham, his life began to gravitate towards greatness. This is because God’s revelation to man lightens up his path and leads him up to his place of destiny. So, having received the promise of a better country, Abraham began to LOOK FORWARD. People who attain enviable heights in life are always forward looking. They aren't stuck in the past. On the flip side, it is commonplace for pessimistic people to live in the past and relish the status quo. There is no downsides in looking forward and raising ones sights for greater accomplishment. Hence, don't allow what kept you down in the past to keep you on the sidelines. Abraham was accustomed to the idolatry practices of his father's house. But when it pleased God to establish him and move him forward, his focus was redirected to be fixated on God’s plan for his life. Hence, he followed God's instruction to get off his father's house, in order to dwell in the Land of Promise. Resolve to look and move forward and get unstuck from the chords that might be tying you to the past.

It is in the capacity of God to make great. The hand of God upon a man brings him out of obscurity into light. Anyone who desires to rise above what his strength can carry him would have to LOOK UPWARDS to God. The Psalmist wrote, “From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” The Psalmist knew that his strength is limited and would rather rest on God for a lifting beyond his strength. A man who can go the limit is still limited because there is a level to which his strength cannot carry him through. However, if you would LOOK UPWARDS, you would be able to mount on wings like eagles. You would be able to scale altitudes that would make many to express gratitude to God in your life. Looking upwards means you are willing to bank on God, to give you a lift into greatness. It also means making God your focus to get to your desired destination. As you fix your eyes on Jesus, may His glory radiate upon you and promote you into honour and favour in Jesus name.

Gravitating towards greatness also requires that you LOOK ON THE BRIGHT SIDE OF THINGS. This implies that you shouldn’t allow discouragement to dial back the steam to reach your goal. Anyone who allows discouragement, depression and disappointment to hang over him wouldn’t hit the mark of greatness. Whilst it is inevitable that you would bump into disappointments by men or by events, you should look on the bright side of things and turn it to good account. When the Psalmist was downcast, he said this to his soul, “Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God (Ps 43:5)”. Looking on the bright side of life helps you to get up some steam to forge ahead even when your expectations are not being fulfilled. With God on your side, you can keep gravitating towards greatness and reach your desired goal. Look upwards, look forward and keep looking on the bright side of things, with the hope of a better tomorrow.
