Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him and he will make your paths straight. - Prov. 3:5-6
Divine counsel is not an option in fulfilling destiny and purpose in life. It's a compulsion for anyone who wants to be on the radar and attain stardom. Because David chose to follow the counsel of the Lord and meditated in His word, he had a better understanding than his instructors. This made him outstanding and was in the spotlight because of his accomplishments.
Living in accordance with God's counsel is the key to lasting happiness and joy. A hymn writer wrote, 'When we walk with the Lord in the light of His word, what a glory He sheds on our way...trust and obey, for there is no other way to be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey.' Of course, you cannot follow God's counsel and struggle through life. There is no substitute for living a fulfilled life except we trust God and follow His counsel. Hence, do not despise divine counsel which is profitable to direct, for which you will never reject.
People that rejected God's counsel in the scripture got their fingers burnt. In lieu of following God's counsel, they threw caution to the wind. While Eli and his sons would have attained an enviable priesthood that would have gone down in history, their priesthood was short-lived because Eli despised the word of the Lord. You can only be efficient and productive to the extent to which you yield yourself to keep to instructions and counsel. Above all, anyone who desires to live in eternity with God must keep to the straight and narrow, aligning his ways with godly counsel. May your destiny not go down the drain as you choose to lean on God's understanding so you could stand out in your endeavours in Jesus name.
