PAY NOW AND PLAY LATER

Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! They labor hard all summer, gathering food for the winter. - Prov. 6:7-8

John Maxwell opened up his childhood experience and wrote: "My father would often admonish me by saying, “Pay now—play later.” In fact, he said it a lot because I was someone who loved to play and never wanted to pay! What he was trying to teach me was to do the difficult things first, and then enjoy myself. I learned from him that we all pay in life...The longer we wait to pay, the greater the price." This reveals that a case of misplacement of priorities exists when the pursuit of pleasure takes precedence over life enriching pursuits. Hence, if you don't want to pay through your nose on the back end, begin to make wise payments and investment into your future on the front end.

It is irrefutable that there is no gain without pain. Hence, inasmuch as you understand that it is unprofitable to cut corners, you need to GET A HEAD START ON YOUR GOALS. For you to be able to stand on your feet and emerge as an accomplisher, you need to train your sights on an enriching goal, that would pay off in the long run. Hence, you cannot afford to float through life. You need to make up your mind and strive towards the actualisation of your goal while thrusting aside pleasures and frivolities that would get in the way of your accomplishments.

By choosing to GET OFF A LIFE OF PLEASURE THAT COULD BE DELAYED WHILE YOU BEGIN TO FOLLOW YOUR PASSION, you increase the odds of living out your dreams. People who downplay the import of making upfront payments in their career, ministry and life endeavours do have reasons to kick themselves. Neglecting the fact that time waits for no man, they realised that they have a lot of catch-ups to do and would have to really double down if they would get anywhere near their goals. So, instead of kicking the can down the road, when you have what it takes to make an impact on the front end, prioritise GIVING UP YOURSELF TO HARD WORK MIXED WITH SMARTNESS. If you are not investing your time in the right and rewarding direction, you would certainly hurt your chances of reaching your end and fulfilling God's purpose for your life. So, shape up today.
