Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me, and to accomplish his work. - John 4:34
It is one thing for man to plan his ways while it's another thing for the plan to see the light of day. Bearing that the best-laid plan could go astray, x-raying your plans through the lens of the Spirit of God would help you to get off to a good start and keep you on the right track. This explains why a believer shouldn't merely call on God to rubber stamp his decision but rather reason with God and embrace God's perspective above his preferences. Allowing God to stay on top of your plan may not necessarily signify the absence of little storm, which may test your perseverance to move forward with God's counsel. However, following his counsel would not keep you in the eye of the storm of life, which befall those whose ways are not pleasing to God. Hence, even if it appears that you can't make sense of God's direction to keep you on the right track, don't allow your intellectual faculty to find fault with God's mandate for your life.
Allowing God’s will to overtake your preferences would not trigger an action or event that would leave a bad taste in your mouth or such that would put you in a disadvantaged position. Following His counsel will certainly set your life in the RIGHT DIRECTION, which leads up to your desired destination. While making critical life decisions, some believers miss the boat because they sidestep divine counsel that would have helped them to keep to the straight and narrow. When the land of Sodom was eye-catching to Lot, little did he know he was heading in the wrong direction. His expectation to enjoy a peaceful and prosperous lifestyle was cut short. If he had built the kind of intimacy Abraham had with the Lord, he might have accessed divine secret to help him steer clear of the vice-ridden Sodomites.
It bears mentioning that waiting upon the Lord to get a clear direction leading up to your destination would also help you to REACH YOUR GOAL. The Early Church took account of the words of Christ on tarrying in Jerusalem for the promise of the Father. Their obedience paved way for their accomplishments while the grace to finish strong was poured upon them. They did not allow ulterior motives, disobedience and division to come in the way of their ministry. Being beneficiaries of the leadership of the Holy Spirit, they weren’t only enable to reach their goals, they also REAPED THE HARVEST OF THEIR LABOUR. It was evident that their labour didn’t go down the drain. They grew and multiplied with amazing miracles performed through them. If you are heading off course, struggling to reach your goal and falling short to reap the harvest you desire, examine yourself to determine whether you are operating within the circumference of God's will for your life. I pray as you strive towards your goal, may your efforts not go to waste, even as you keep to God’s instruction for your manifestation in Jesus name.
